The President's House in Philadelphia

President's House Preliminary Designs by Olin Partnership and Vincent Ciulla Design, January 15, 2003

On January 15, 2003, the Park Service held a public meeting to unveil the preliminary site design for its treatment of the President's House in Philadelphia. The Slave Quarters do not appear in this plan because the Park Service claimed there was no evidence that they existed. Objection to the process by which these plans were created without adequate community participation, followed by the disclosure of the erasure of the Smokehouse / Slave Quarters led to public rejection of this otherwise worthy design. Here are the 17 slides prepared by the Olin Partnership and Vincent Ciulla Design for the Park Service and presented at the public meeting. Plans in PDF format [2.5mb]
