Society Hill Synagogue

Society Hill 31

Society Hill Synagogue was built in 1829 as the Spruce Street First Baptist Church. For a time it was a Rumanian Synagogue, and it now is home to a Conservative congregation. It has the distinction of having been designed by Thomas U. Walter, the architect responsible for the Capitol dome, as well as the Senate and House wings of the Capitol building.
