Hours and Touring

Bowman’s Tower is open Tuesday-Sunday 10am to 4pm from early April through late November, weather permitting.

Guided tours are offered Thursday-Sunday 10am-4pm seasonally. The grounds are open for self-guided tours.

The visitor center remains temporarily closed pending renovations however there is a temporary visitor services station in the large tan modular unit near the intersection of routes 32 & 532.

Restrooms are available at the temporary Visitor Center.

The Park is open on Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day and limited hours for the program on Christmas Day. The site is closed on Martin Luther King Day, President's Day, Columbus Day, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving, and New Year's Day.

During Time Of Extreme Weather — floods, storms, wintry mix — the PA Delaware Canal State Park Towpath may be inaccessible. For information regarding the condition of the towpath, please access Delaware Canal State Park

Moving Around the Site and Directions

The touring experiences do require walking down a paved pathway as well as negotiating some stairs. Individuals with disabilities should contact the Park office in advance to discuss their needs.

The Thompson-Neely section and the McKonkey Ferry Inn section of the Park are in two separate locations. Visitors may drive or bike from one section of the Park to another in order to experience the entire facility. It is approximately a 5 mile distance between the two sections. The Delaware Canal Park towpath connects the two sections of the Park from the McKonkey Ferry section's Newtown Gate, accessible from Route 532 to the front of the Thompson-Neely House in the Thompson-Neely section.

Pets, Horses, Sheep and Wildlife

Many visitors use the Park grounds to walk their dogs. Dogs are welcomed, but all dogs must be on a leash and visitors must clean up after their dogs. Dogs, unless they are service dogs, are not allowed in the Visitor Center or historic structures including Bowman's Hill Tower. Owners are responsible for the behavior of their dogs.

Horseback riding is not permitted on the grounds by the visiting public.

The site has many geese, deer and other wildlife inhabitants. Visitors must respect the local inhabitants. There is no hunting on site and we ask that you not feed any of the animals, including the Park sheep kept at the Thompson-Neely section. The site sheep are fed by the Park staff and need to receive nutritious food which is easily digested.
