PAVILIONS

Please be aware that the General Washington and General Greene Pavilion restrooms will be unavailable due to a renovation project slated for Spring/Summer/Fall 2008. Portable restrooms will be available for renters' use and the Washington and Greene Pavilions will be offered for rental at a discounted rate.

Washington Crossing Historic Park has three pavilions available for rental: the General Washington Picnic Pavilion, the General Greene Picnic Pavilion, and the General Sullivan Picnic Pavilion.

The General Washington Pavilion, located in the McConkey's Ferry/Lower Park section of the Park, sits along the banks of the Delaware River below a parking area and restroom facility. There is a set of steps and a small dirt path providing access to the pavilion. Vehicles should be parked in the designated area and may be driven down the dirt path for unloading purposes only. The Washington Pavilion has 9 picnic tables (with attached benches) and 4 grills. It can comfortably accommodate approximately 60 — 75 people.

The General Greene Pavilion, also located in the Lower Park, is in the Park's Valley of Concentration (large open space) near the lagoon. Restroom facilities are not immediately near the pavilion but across the field. This pavilion has 11 picnic tables (with attached benches) and 1 grill. It can comfortably accommodate 75 — 100 people.

The General Sullivan Pavilion is located in the Thompson's Mill Section of the Park near the Delaware Canal. It has 7-9 picnic tables, a fire pit, and can accommodate approximately 60 people. Restroom facilities are located near the pavilion. (This pavilion is near the scout camping areas and will not be rented to the general public if scouts are using the area at that time.)

The Captain Moore Picnic Pavilion is also located in the Upper Park, but is operated by Bowman's Hill Wildflower Preserve. Please call 215-862-2924 or visit bhwp.org for more information.

Pavilions are available for rental Tuesdays through Sundays from 9 AM until dusk. Pavilion restrooms are unlocked prior to each rental. It is probable that pavilion restrooms will be locked at 5 PM. If your group has more than 125 people, we ask that you bring your own portable toilets to the site for your use. Due to unforeseen acts of nature, such as flooding, the pavilions may be inaccessible. The site will try to alert you to this as soon as possible and reschedule your trip. The site cannot allow visitors into the pavilion areas if any danger is detected.

The rental fee for each pavilion is $100 per day, payable by check or money order. A separate, refundable $50 security deposit is required in addition to the rental fee. Reservations are confirmed upon receipt of payment. Payments will not be deposited until the month of the rental. After deposited, payment is non-refundable. Checks should be made to "Washington Crossing Historic Park." The site cannot accept credit cards at this time.

GAZEBO

Located in the McConkey's Ferry Section of the Park, the gazebo sits by the Delaware River behind the Mahlon K. Taylor House. The gazebo is popular for very small wedding ceremonies and can be rented alone or together with the General Washington Pavilion. Restroom facilities are located by the General Washington Pavilion.

Things To Know

  • Corporate and specific interest groups may be subject to special stipulations and fees.
  • If your group is over 125 people, a facilities use agreement may be needed, which takes at least 90 days to process.
  • A reservation for a pavilion or the gazebo does not include a guided tour. Separate reservations must be made through the site educator to book a tour of the Park. It would be our pleasure to orchestrate a tour experience for you as well as your rental experience.
  • Electricity is available at the pavilions. Renters may bring in portable toilets, caterers, etc. as needed. The park is not responsible for making arrangements for these services. Please have all equipment for these services removed by the day following your rental.
  • Groups are welcomed to decorate the pavilions in any temporary, non-permanent way, but we do ask that all decorations be removed at the end of your visit. Renters are responsible for cleaning up after their event. You may use the dumpsters provided to dispose of trash. Please leave the gazebo, picnic pavilion, and/or camping area in the same condition as when you arrived. No signage, decoration nor directional signs may be near the historic buildings or in the area for the general public.
  • Alcohol is not allowed in the Park.
  • All dogs must be leashed.
  • Please be respectful of Park property — both modern and historic, landscape, wildlife and other Park visitors. The site is open to the public every day but Monday. The wildlife of the Park lives here year round. Please help us preserve this sacred spot and allow it to be a positive experience for others for years to come.
  • If a concern or problem arises, please notify the staff at the Visitor's Center. The Visitor Center is open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 9 AM until 5 PM and Sundays from 12 PM to 5 PM.
