Opportunities for Volunteering

  • Tour Guides — Opportunities are available for volunteers to be trained as tour guides that will provide on-site interpretation of the history and buildings at the Park. Guides will entertain school groups and other visitors to the Park. Both weekday and weekend positions are available.
  • Events — Throughout the year, events are held at the Park. The Crossing Dress Rehearsal, Christmas Day Crossing, General Washington’s Birthday, Charter Days, Sheep Shearing Days, Harvest Days, Memorial Day Commemoration, Fourth of July Celebration and other fund raising events are planned and need volunteers for planning, day of event participation and post event wrap-up.
  • Grounds/Facilities — Community Clean-up days are held to prune, rake, shovel, scrub and generally clean up the site. Gardeners are also needed to re-vitalize the gardens and plantings on-site.

The buildings are in need of repair. These needed repairs are vast and include roofing, plumbing, siding, window repair, flooring, etc.
  • Museum Shop — The Museum Shop is in need of volunteers during the week and during the weekends. Greeters are also needed to assist with visitors and distribute literature and information about the Park and the FWCP.
  • Membership — There is a need to grow the membership of the Friends of Washington Crossing Park. Membership varies from 20 hours of service to a higher level of giving.
  • Project Planning & Assistance — Several opportunities are available to assist an Eagle Scout candidate or a young adult with a community service project.

Yes, I'm Interested in Being a Friend!

Thank you for your interest in helping the Friends of Washington Crossing Park. Your volunteerism will help preserve this historic site and continue the great tradition of the Re-enactment of General Washington’s historic Christmas crossing. In addition, park visitors will benefit from future educational opportunities and the many groups who enjoy the beauty of the park will continue their support of the FWCP’s mission.
