Washington Crossing EventsApril 21 Historic Cooking Demonstration Admission: Free with regular tourUse your senses as your guide to learn history through the sights, sounds and smells of 18th century cooking. Interact with our cook as she prepares a variety of dishes using the recipes of the period (known as “receipts”) for the open hearth and beehive oven. April 26, 9am-3pm Sheep Shearing Admission: $8.00 per personCome to the Thompson Neely House (located about two miles south of New Hope at the intersection of River and Aquetong Roads) to watch as the sheep are shorn of their winter coats. Meanwhile, historic craft demonstrations, games, and children’s entertainment will be available for all to enjoy. May 11, 2013; 12:30pm–4:30pm Brewfest Admission: $40.00Hear ye, hear ye! You are invited to attend our third annual Brewfest on the banks of the Delaware River, behind the Thompson-Neely House (located about two miles south of New Hope at the intersection of River and Aquetong Roads). May 19 Spring Cooking Demonstration Admission: Free with regular tourBe a part of the springtime ritual as our cook celebrates the arrival of warm weather by using fresh garden ingredients to prepare 18th century dishes over an open hearth. Also special for this time of year will be the appearance of the first fresh dairy products of the season. Observe historic dairying techniques and learn why the arrival of spring is so exciting in the kitchen. May 27, 11am Memorial Day Observance Admission: FreePlease join us in honoring the fallen soldiers of the 1776 Winter Campaign at the Revolutionary War Soldiers’ Gravesite behind the Thompson Neely House (located about two miles south of New Hope at the intersection of River and Aquetong Roads). A procession will lead visitors to the Gravesite where commemorative speeches and a musket salute will precede the lowering of the flag to half staff. |
