One of the most important phases of the President's House project is about to be wrapped up, as work progresses toward a July 4th opening.
Major construction is underway at the historic site. But project director Roz McPherson says the major work has been happening behind the scenes — work on the state of the art studio and interactive visuals that will tell the stories of the lives of those who lived in the President's House, especially the nine enslaved Africans. McPherson says it has been hard work:
"We've even had guest historians come in to critique, to make sure that we are placing emphasis on the things that are the most critical to telling this story at that site. And also researching details."
McPherson hopes the content of the memorial will be completed and approved by the end of the month. Tue Nov 24 2009 09:44:00 GMT-0500 (Eastern Standard Time)
