Mary Bomar, who had a comparable job at the Oklahoma City National Memorial, has been with the National Park Service since 1990. She will succeed Martha Aikens, who left about a year ago to run training programs for the Park Service.
She arrives amid construction of the National Constitution Center and a new Liberty Bell pavilion, as well as controversy over the depiction of slavery and the closing of Chestnut Street in front of Independence Hall as a security measure.
