George Washington and John Adams once lived in a house about a block from Independence Hall that is now being excavated by archaeologists in preparation for construction of a "President's House" monument to commemorate the daily lives of the two presidents.
Officials of Independence National Historical Park and the city announced yesterday that a section of the kitchen wall, as well the foundation walls from the main house, had been unearthed. Nine of Washington's slaves also lived there.
