NHD Philly Regional Competition Registration Instructions
- What you need to know before you start.
The new system functions very similar to a retail online shopping environment. If you need to, you are able to complete your registration over several sessions. When you are completely done, you will need to checkout your "shopping cart" to be fully registered. Because most NHD competitions charge a registration fee, the checkout button asks: "Are you ready to pay?". There are no registration fees for NHD Philly. You and your students will not have to pay anything when you click to sign out.
- How does the registration process work?
- As the teacher/sponsor, you will be required to enter some basic information about each of your students and their entries, before your students can begin to register. You will be assigning a 4-digit PIN number for each of your students. This will enable their access to the system.
- You will be asked to complete a series of simple forms.
- You will access these forms by clicking on the status page links.
- Between each form, you will be able to check the overall status of your registration to see what remains.
- You may stop this process after any form and come back later to finish, as information from your prior forms will be saved.
- The new system is set up like a shopping cart. When you are finished, you will need to checkout. The check out is marked: "Are you ready to pay?". You will not be charged any fees.

- What you need to have before you start.
- student school,
- student name,
- student school state,
- the last four digits of the student's social security number (SSN). (Alternatively, you may use any 4-digit number, as long as both you and your student agree. This number will be their PIN number to access the system. They must remember this PIN.),
- the competition entry division,
- category, and
- a basic title for the project.
Please note that students will have the opportunity to edit any of their personal and/or entry information once they log into their personal record. However, they will need the 4-digit PIN you assigned.
Once you have completed entering this information, your students can begin their registration.

- Click the new Pennsylvania NHD State website online registration page either off of www.nhdphilly.org or go straight to: pa.nhd.org/ud/templates/register.php

- What to tell your students.
- The new registration system streamlines the registration for the State and National NHD competitions and provides a consistent record for the entire program
- The new system will help us to produce a more organized local competition.
- We will have an accurate record of students and entries in the competition. All participants' names will be captured, as well as the full project title.
- Students and teachers will be able to identify special needs and requirements via the online system.
- Remind your students that they must complete the final checkout ("Are your ready to pay?") to be finished. They will not have any fees assessed. As with last year, we do not charge any fees for NHD Philly!
- Students and teachers will receive an e-mail confirmation that they are registered, when they have completed registration.
- All students must also complete our media release form, which is on the Homepage. Bring these forms with you to the competition.
