The History of LOVE ParkLOVE Park was conceived in 1932 and built in the 1960s as JFK plaza. It harmoniously connects to William Penn's original 1682 plan for Philadelphia. The park's curving stairs and fountain were designed to create an impressive setting for City Hall. Skateboarders discovered that LOVE Park was ideal. The park became a mecca of skateboarding and helped to redefine Philadelphia's image and attraction for youth.
