Hello, I am a singer/songwriter in Dallas Texas and just after 9/11 I wrote a song, Let Freedom Ring.. This past July 4, 2003, I had the honor of performing this song at the Let Freedom Ring (tm) National Bell Ringing Cermeonyof the Liberty Bell in Philly.. INdependence Square.. and have been invited back to sing Let Freedom Ring once more at the Bell Ringing Ceremony July 4, 2004! I was so honored to have this opportunity to share this wonderful and uplifiting song about FREEDOM and UNITY with other Americans in Philly on July 4th. LISTEN TO LET FREEDOM RING: www.kayseamayer.com click on Let Freedom Ring... Special commemorative Cd is available on my website...or please contact me: kayseamayer@msn.com - this CD has a track so that other may sing to this beautiful background music for a ceremony of your own... I look forward to sharing this beautiful, inspiring song once again, July 4, 2004 in PHILADELPHIA! Kay Seamayer GOD BLESS AMERICA AND LET FREEDOM RING!

The art of History is so revealing. It makes our present more enlightening .Of course it is something about the word "LIBERTY". As I reflect back, surely God was and is on our nation's side. Another thing, is that written on the bell was the word of God which made this bell so special.Where his spirit was and is,there is liberty. This is the most markable event our nation has witnessed.

Texas A&M University has a replica of this great Liberty Bell. Where can I find out the background behind the copy we have on display here at the university? I understand we have one of the only three bells in existance. Can you help me with more infomation on this. I will keep reading this file, and would appreciate any help on where I might find more details. It's been here as long as we have been here (1966). It once stood on the floor of our grand Academic Building on campus. It is now hanging high above the floor over the University Seal which is inlaid in beautiful tiles. Noone can get close to it now. It just hangs there. Can you suggest why our great 'anchor' hangs so high? Thanks for any help.

I am saddened by the current world situation, and especially the lack of patriotism, respect, and honor for the symbols of our freedom. Here in Cincinnati, the organizers of parades (for Veteran's Day) couldn't find any high school bands willing to marc. What a sad situation. And, I've noticed, that most high school bands do not play the traditional patriotic marches any more. What a shame. Sousa was awesome. Thanks for listening. Bert Pierce Cincinnati OH.
Bert Pierce, I'm a 63 year old grandma, originally from Philadelphia, now living in Cincinnati OH. My mother took me to the Liberty Bell many times as a young girl. When I was 7 years old my dad bought an old house on Rt 309 that was once a toll house. The story was that the Liberty Bell was being moved from Philadelphia to Allentown to be stored for safety, and it spent the night at that toll house. We knew it was an old toll house because the toll window was in our kitchen. The money drawer, however, was missing, but the drawer space was there. [11-17-2003]

I just wanted to say that I saw the Liberty Bell last month while visiting Independence Hall. I am from California and we certainly don't have any of this kind of historical artifacts in our state (for obvious reasons,) and I was thrilled to be able to touch and to see the large crack (as well as the little crack) in person. Feels good to know that our country has cherished the Liberty Bell all of these years.

I feel this relic to be the most powerful and emotive symbol of the rights of the common man to all of the attributes of freedom - particularly freedom from persecution by the rich and powerful. The crack serves serendipitously to identify the fact that these ideals are far from realisation, even in "The Land of the Free" May it survive beyond mankind's current flawed society.

We visited Philadelphia for 5 days (not nearly enough time to see and to everything) and it was the most interesting trip I've ever taken..Walking the streets and being in the places where our country's history was made was a truly awesome experience. My stepdad (a veteran Marine who fought on Iwo Jima) cried when my daughter, who was 7 at the time, stood by the Liberty Bell, touched it and said "I am so proud to be an American and to be here." A trip fondly remembered and one that will never be forgotten. I have shared my volumes of photos with my students every year. Your website is a great way to learn about American icons of history. I visited the Bell while in eleementary school to my deep regret never went back to visit. I have read allitle of the history of the Bell and encourage all Americans to visit. It is said that all muslims visit Mecca at least once before dying well some how it seems apropriate to do the same here.

I am interested in more information about the crack in the bell. I attended a ceremony earlier today and the speaker said it cracked when rang on Washington's birthday. When I visited the Liberty Bell in 2000 the park ranger said no one knows how it cracked. We saw many historical things on that trip and the Liberty Bell and the National Archives were my favorite
