Now at my late age I am only just now becoming more interested in Ben Franklin. I feel that we have a terrible lack of his intellect and foresight in politics on display in our country today. A pity that we have become so poor.

After having our roots searched, we discovered, which we all knew anyway, we are a direct descendant of Ben Franklin. If you would see the men in our family, OMG, you would think you were looking at Ben, My great grandfather, Marshal Leroy Franklin, was called "Ben" for the resemblance.

At examining to information on art painter Henri Frederic Jean-Baptiste Jolly (an ancestor of my wife Yolanda Phillepine Jolly) I discovered that he has made a painting and a book also under the name baron Jolly and that the book and the painting in your possession are. Is it possible to examine the book by Internet? The book has 8 pages and is called: The elegant steel engraving of Franklin at the court of France, in 1778 / engraved by William Overend Geller ; from the original painting by Baron Jolly of Bruxelles Published/Created Newark : W. H. Emerson & Co., [c1881] I can transmit a self-portrait of of Henri Frederic Jean-Baptiste Jolly Greets, Anthony van den Heuvel

Benjamin Franklin - renaissance man, wow I just learned from the article that he was also a feminist writing under the nom de plume. I worked as a fulltime teacher for 8 years, then had another stint as a substitute teacher for about 11 years. I had been unemployed (i.e. not being paid for working outside the home) for 2 years. About two weeks ago I thought of Benjamin, and how he had many jobs. One cannot stop talent! I decided that instead of wrestling with myself to define myself I would add him to my list of role models. Benjamin went with the flow, how freeing that must have been for him! I have felt relaxed since I decided to follow Ben's example. What a relief! Lana

Benjamin Franklin is a truly inspirational man. He lived with words of wisdom by writing and reading as much as he possibly could. Franklin is acknowledged as being foundational to the roots of American values and character. He symbolizes hard work, education and community spirit. In addition, he had the scientific and progressive values of the Enlightenment. Today, we honor Ben Franklin as one of our Founding Fathers and as one of America's greatest citizens.

demand that every member of government local state and federal read his autobiography. it might inspire them to be statesmen not sloppy lazy politicians.
Years ago I read an article by Franklin talking about the younger generation and how they are not responsible or productive. I think that may apply to today's youth. Could you please advise where I could find the article? Thanks, Jim
