Over the Hedge (excerpt)
Turning to the local news.
A letter from Ed Zwicker, president of the Springfield Township Historical Society, reports that its "membership organization" is transitioning to a "friends-based" model in order to build up membership and its coffers as it prepares to move into the Black Horse Inn.
Currently, there are some 200 members, but the "friends" model will target about 7,000 households in the township for support, participation and annual contributions.
Established in 1985, this historical society will not change its mission — research, preservation and education — and members will continue to receive editions of "The Challenge," have access to the Web site, hear speakers and attend other events during the year.
