Afternoon With the Generals — September 21, 2008![]() General Warren Inne Dear Friend, We invite you to be part of a very special entertaining and enlightening event that commemorates the Battle of Paoli and benefits a great cause, the Paoli Battlefield Preservation Fund (PBPF). Meet Revolutionary War Generals George Washington and Sir William Howe during an Afternoon With the Generals on Sunday, September 21, 2008, from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Patrick Byrne has generously made his historic General Warren Inne, one of the premier restaurants in the Delaware Valley, available for this event. The inn is the perfect setting as it played a pivotal role in the battle. The Generals will discuss their roles in the Philadelphia campaign of 1777 and be available to answer questions. Space is limited (200) so please reserve your spot. Along with the Generals, portrayed by the American Historical Theatre, you'll also enjoy 18th Century sustenance and refreshments and Robert Mouland's Musick of Early America. All proceeds from the event will support our current projects: securing National Historic Landmark status, implementing a complete archeological survey, recreating the viewscape of 1777, an expanded visitor center, educational programs, and reenactments. We encourage you to become an advertiser and sponsor. A special VIP Reception with "the Generals" will be held prior to the public event. Sponsors can also invite special clients and display their company signage. On-line promotional opportunities are also available. Advertising space for the Afternoon With the Generals program booklet can be secured. The deadline for receipt of material is September 1, 2008. For more information about our sponsorship opportunities, program advertising and individual event tickets, please review the reply form. Tickets can be purchased online on this site or at generalwarren.com or ordered at the Malvern Borough Hall and the General Warren Inne. If you have any questions, contact PBPF Vice President, Dennis Kane at 484-686-5255 or email generals@paolibattlefield.org. The PBPF has received generous community support to save the Revolutionary War site of the Paoli Massacre. The Paoli Battlefield Historical Park is owned by Malvern Borough and administered by PBPF. The pristine battlefield and the adjacent Paoli Memorial Grounds are on the National Register of Historic Places and feature the nation's 2nd oldest war monument and host the oldest continually held Memorial Day parade in the United States. PBPF is charged with preservation, educational and ceremonial activities related to the Battle of Paoli. We host annual events, such as the July 4th Let Freedom Ring celebration and a Candlelight Tour in the fall. PBPF co-sponsors activities such as Pulitzer Prize author David McCullough's speech for the Library System's Chester County Reads program. Thank you for your interest and support. The Generals are looking forward to seeing you on September 21st. Your support will help preserve our heritage for future generations. Sincerely, Bruce A. Knapp President |
