To few public schools here on the "Left Coast" spend much time on America's experiment in self governance. Sadly,we lost our Republic during the very early years of our 20th century. I am a proud American, and I pray everyday for God to give our leaders the wisdom they are lacking to save our country from going into certain disarray. With costs of living rising, and jobs being lost, how much longer can we withstand these colliding economic pressures? Reading the Declaration points out how this country was founded by people with a vision on how future generations will be goverened. This is the problem with our leaders of today. Totally focused on events outside our Country which in reality have little effect if left to the those directly involved. I would love to sit and talk with the ment who created the Declaration and understand their thoughts, views, and opinions. This is America, and yes we are a free country. But that doesn't mean anyone can come in here and take our country for everything they can by living off the system. If you want to do it right, get a green card, get a job and live like an American. The Declaration of Independence was the best thing to happen to this country and I'm glad John Adams persued it until it was done. That was a fascinating mini-series. Now I just wish it continued.

I am reading this wonderful document while watching the HBO mini-series John Adams. Watching this movie and discovering what John Adams, Ben Franklin, and others had to go through in order to sway all 13 colonies in their favor, reminds us of just how close we were to becoming and entirely different nation than we have become. This is not to say that we would never have separated, only that we could have ended up an entirely different nation. Understanding the courage these men displayed, in the face of what in their minds was almost certain death, should make one proud to be from this great country. Being the optomist that I am, I find it hard to believe that men like these are still around, and will one day put this country back on the track our forefathers first set us on over 230 years ago. It gives me a great comfort for the future of my children and their children.

What a wonderful instrument. It is inspiring that our forefathers were so strong of mind and character to have created this document as well as stood up and presented it to an oppressive overseer form of governement. It shows that when men and women of a nation decide to "make needed changes" that it can be done, with some sacrifice, but successfully concluded. Don't forget that as the political seasons continue to show us that changes must eventually be made, we must be ready to do just that - wholesale changes or completely start over - to put our country back on the course that made us great - "kick the rascals out" fortitude, if you will.

Our country has the honor to claim one of the most precious and monumental documents ever created to lead not just a nation but to guide man kind to a new to millennium of human evolution. Many people come this country for the privilege live, promote, and die for those beliefs. Why can't independent counsel be created to pursue or promote the spirit of this document. A counsel that independently reviews our countries behavior independent of the three branches of power. It should be used to change values currently existing how government is used to promote the wealth and power of a select few. It should encourage wealth and well being of all. The purpose of government is to ensure a fair government for all and to step in when abuses are taking place. This is the only article left that can unite a country. The unfortunate values the run ramped in our society ("it's OK to cheat if you don't get caught.") abuses but religious entities have separate a country, and the list can go on. It's time to remind/reeducate/instill/promote a common becon to everyone.
